Near completion at the end of the Major Arcana, card number XX is Judgement. With arms held aloft, all aspects of self – masculine, feminine, inner child – come together to answer the call to transcend into a higher version of ourselves.

But what exactly does this mean?

Imagine life not as a linear journey, but as an upward spiral.

In the beginning, we are born into a story, and our trajectory spirals ahead of us. Life happens: tragedies and delights, celebrations, failures, unkind words, and – if we’re lucky – apologies. These moments stay with us. We look back to make sense of them. Some bite so hard they repeat on us with each turn of the spiral: “Oh no, not this again!” we cry in dismay. Old wounds rise again and again.

And yet – with each revolution, there is learning, a new perspective. The original wound is seen afresh, and we move on.

The Judgement card knows that we are ready to answer this call: to transcend, to shift onwards.

And if you pull this card in reverse? You are close – so close – but the path isn’t open just yet. Perhaps it is time to pivot.
